The modernisation of the Beira and Maforga (Manica) pump stations will enable a 50% increase in pipeline capacity. This initiative is one of the key steps to implementing the ambitious pipeline expansion project that is currently underway.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two new, completely renovated pumping stations at Beira and Maforga will come online in 2023. CPMZ began the project in 2018 and this has allowed it to replace the platforms and their control rooms, as well as to upgrade the control system for all the pumping operations based on SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The modernisation of the pumping unit, the entire infrastructure and the control systems will make it possible to increase the transport capacity of the CPMZ pipeline by 50%, from two to three million cubic metres each year. It is an evolution in the company\u2019s operations and provides a response to a greater demand for fuel with a safe and efficient form of transport supported by state-of-the-art technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new stations are part of an ambitious project to expand the pipeline. This plan \u2013 designed, financed and implemented by CPMZ \u2013 is divided into several phases for a gradual increase in capacity. The replacement of the Beira and Maforga stations is Phase 1 of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next phase will be to add two more satellite stations and increase the pipeline\u2019s capacity to five million cubic metres per year. In the future, the stations will communicate autonomously with each other to detect problems in time and ensure that transport operations run smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expansion project is in line with a strategic vision shared with the Government of Zimbabwe: to make the Beira-Harare pipeline the preferred carrier of refined petroleum products for all of inland Southern Africa. Implementing the different phases of this project will make it possible to meet the growing demand for fuel in the hinterland and contribute to the development of these regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
